How to select USB oscilloscope

USB oscilloscope key performance properties

In previous post we exposed key performance properties to consider when choosing USB oscilloscope. Let’s have a look at our two USB oscilloscopes and let’s compare them side by side.

PoScope Mega1

PoScope Mega1 is lowest power consumption USB oscilloscope, function generator and logic analyzer in one on the market. It draws only 60mA thus the best choice for measurement environments which demands power autonomy and longevity. It’s especially convenient for outdoor measurements in remote places where power supply is limited and portability is very important. Integrated high quality analog to digital converters are able to sample up to 2,5MS/s and with maximum data resolution of 10mV at +/-20V input range. Function generator is capable of generating different pattern test signals with frequency up to 12,5kHz and maximum amplitude of 1,8V. Logic analyzer captures up to 16 digital inputs and gathers data for further analysis. Included free software PoScope4 extends it’s usability for many different applications.

PoScope Mega50

PoScopeMega50 is low power consumption USB oscilloscope, function generator and logic analyzer in one on the market. It draws only 150mA thus the best choice for measurement environments which demands power autonomy and longevity. It’s especially convenient for outdoor measurements in remote places where power supply is limited and portability is very important. Integrated high quality analog to digital converters are able to sample up to 48MHz and with 8-bit data resolution at +/-30V input range. Function generator is capable of generating different pattern test signals with frequency up to 12,5kHz and maximum amplitude of 1,8Vpp. Logic analyzer captures up to 16 digital inputs and gathers data for further analysis. Included free software PoScope4 extends it’s usability for many different applications.

Conclusion

At first sight into the table we can notice that both oscilloscopes definitely excel at low current consumption, size and portability. Carrying it with you and working with it in remote places not worrying to drain your battery to fast will be a pure pleasure. Let’s don’t forget the fact when you buy any of them you get 6 devices (Oscilloscope, X/Y, FFT, Recorder, Logic analyzer, Signal generator) in one for a really low price tag. Furthermore you get free software with free monthly upgrades and free user support.
